Wedding Bells and Silver Stars

My gorgeous friend, Bethany, from lovepeaceandmakeup.net got married today to her amazing fella, Matt. YAY!!! 😀 I was lucky enough to be one of her bridesmaids, and was also chief cake maker. Their theme was very relaxed and casual, with lots of DIY elements. Mainly, from the amazing Mother of the Bride (she is a crafting goddess. Am in awe of the things she can create). They chose a purple and silver colour scheme with star accents. To go with the casual theme, I was asked to make them a 8″ top cake for the “cake cutting” element of the day and cupcakes for everyone else 🙂 I have a serious infatuation with cupcakes, so getting to create this for these guys has so many levels of win 🙂 I was left to my own devices with flavourings (although I obviously consulted with the Bride before starting to cook haha) but decided to make a chocolate top cake with lemon curd buttercream and purple fondant. I then chose to use silver star “buttons” over the sides of the cake and created a large star “button” on top, for the cake toppers to sit on as well. For the cupcakes, half of them were chocolate flavoured and half were vanilla flavoured. The frosting was simple buttercream and tinted purple using Pro-gel food colouring and each was topped with a silver fondant “button”. The final touch was the cake toppers. As Bethany is an MUA, a lipstick was the obvious choice. As Matt is a MAJOR footie fan, a Man Utd shirt seemed fitting 🙂

Below are the pictures. I’m so pleased that both the bride and groom loved them, and apparently so did everyone else. They both looked GORGEOUS and were blessed with beautiful sunshine even in March. I wish them a lifetime of happiness and honestly, it couldn’t happen to a more loving couple.

Final table layout at the reception 🙂 The staff at the venue piped the cream for us before serving. Lovely work there 🙂

Hope you liked this 🙂 I’m heading for bed now as am shattered 😀

Cheers for now
